South Wales Agricultural Valuers elect new President
At their recent Annual General Meeting, Aled Rhys Jones was elected President of the South Wales & Monmouthshire Agricultural Valuers Association for 2021-22. A farmer’s son from Cwrt-y-Cadno, Aled has been a member of the Association for almost 15 years and became a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) in 2009. In that year he won the Bob Jones Bowl for gaining the highest marks in the entrance examinations out of all the Welsh candidates. He later became chairman of the South Wales Young Valuers and was the organiser of the well-respected Aberystwyth Tutorial for five years.
Aled now runs his own advisory business called AR Y TIR | ON THE LAND, alongside his passion for broadcasting. Aled is the lead presenter of the daily agricultural bulletin (Bwletin Amaeth) on BBC Radio Cymru and presents a number of podcasts including the CAAV Podcast which he helped launch in 2020.
In taking over the Presidency, Aled paid tribute to the outgoing President, Chris Hyde, for all his work in leading the branch over the past two years and to Andrew Thomas whose term as National President of the CAAV had recently come to an end. He is looking forward to his year in office and to raising the profile of Agricultural Valuers within Wales and beyond.
