Livestock Market Feasibility Study

Cowbridge Livestock Market Feasibility Study
In 2018, Aled Rhys Jones was commissioned alongside PER Consulting Ltd to undertake a feasibility study to determine the future of the Cowbridge Livestock Market. The report was commissioned by Creative Rural Communities; the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Rural Regeneration initiative in partnership with NFU, FUW, local farmers and the current market operators. Aled undertook an extensive programme of consultation and engagement with stakeholders to determine whether there was a need for a livestock market in the region. In addition, he prepared detailed business plans to determine the scale and viability of a new facility. The report concluded that there was overwhelming support for a traditional livestock auction mart, but a more ambitious multipurpose facility was the only solution deemed operationally viable and suitable for the region in the future.
