Take a Circular Economy approach and learn how ‘waste’ can become a valuable resource
Each one of us contributes to the growing amount of waste being produced. But is there even such a thing as ‘waste’ or is it just something that we haven’t found another purpose for?
Effective waste resource management is a key component of every efficient business. Understanding not only what your waste streams are but also the potential value to be gained from these is key to any organisation. In addition to this, reducing waste output is a key societal obligation, as losses of useful material or substances, particularly those that have required energy to create increases the environmental footprint of business activities and contributes to the effect of climate and environmental change.
This module focusses on resource management within the food sector, highlighting the latest research within production, processing and retail and how we can transition to a more circular economy. Students will learn about the latest advances in waste management technology, considering resource management strategies from businesses across a range of food supply networks.
