Learn how to increase the uptake of new knowledge, ideas, products and policies.
Behaviour Change, sometimes known as Behavioural Science is a relatively new discipline. The subject tackles a number of fascinating questions – e.g. why is it that new innovations or interventions aren’t taken up as soon as we’d expect? We can provide convincing evidence that they work, but even if they have all the relevant information, people still don’t behave as you’d expect them to and are reluctant to change their ways! Behaviour Insight draws on physiological and psychological research, to develop ways of transforming human action.
This module has been developed in conjunction with the Aberystwyth Behavioural Insights Interdisciplinary Research Centre and will help students to understand the theory of behaviour insights and show how it can be applied to a range of situations. Students will develop an understanding of this emerging social science and will be of benefit to anyone needing to convey an effective message, whether it be to a specific sector or wider public.
