Learn about the latest advances in the field of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) and how to develop controlled growing systems
Developing ways to feed a growing global population, whilst reducing the environmental impact of agricultural activities is of critical importance. Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is a technology-based approach to food production, allowing food producers/growers and agri-tech businesses to optimise growing conditions and resource usage. This approach offers a realistic alternative to conventional crop production, as well as reducing the environmental impact of agricultural activities and reducing the length of supply chains, giving us the option to grow seasonal food year-round.
This module introduces students to the latest advances in this rapidly developing area of agriculture, highlighting the benefits of a range of controlled environments and their potential for improved products and food security. On this module, students will hear from industry leaders and join us as we visit some cutting edge CEA facilities on our 3D virtual field trips.
